Weeks One & Two: Form, Contours, Values, Perspective

Nice to be drawing with Success Sketchers again!! We had a small group but everyone had fun cranking out some really cool drawings. Our teachers jumped in and sketched, too! We worked on taking our previous lesson (the agave plant) to a large sheet of paper and experimenting with different pencils. And we explored drawing downtown buildings in 2-point perspective.

I Look forward to drawing with everyone on the 19th! --Rob

Juan

EXCELLENT work in 2-point perspective, Juan!!! You did a great job of keeping the vertical lines of the buildings (like the corner of the nearest building) parallel with each other. And you correctly drew the angled lines to the vanishing points on the horizon line. Everything looks 3D, like the mail box on the sidewalk.

Clarissa

Great to have you back with the Success Sketchers, Clarissa!!! You jumped back into the fun by drawing some really cool buildings in 2-point perspective. Nice job of keeping the vertical lines (like corner of the nearest building) parallel with each other. Excellent job of drawing the curved roof of the building in the distance. The guidelines to the vanishing points on the horizon line are very well drawn.

Billy

Welcome back to the Star Sketchers, Billy!! Drawing in 2-point perspective is as easy as shooting an outside jump shot, right? ;) Great job of keeping the vertical lines of the boxes parallel and drawing accurate guidelines to the vanishing points on the horizon line. You've got a good eye for drawing things in 3D! Keep it going.

Our Teachers

Nathaniel

Your cool drawing style continues to improve, man! You nailed the 2-point perspective lessons, spot-on. Good eye for seeing the 3D boxes from different perspectives. On your way to becoming an architect? :-)

Gloria

So wonderful to have you jump in with us, Gloria!! EXCELLENT start in holding the pencil on its side while drawing accurate proportions of the plant. Great job of drawing the contour edges of the leaves. You kept accurate proportions (sizes of shapes compared to other shapes) and the control of your line work just got better as you drew with graphite pencil on larger paper. Keep practicing! :-)
